Description of Work:
The company removed an approx. 50' dead apple tree from my backyard and trimmed/removed deadwood and elevated numerous other large sized trees in my front yard. They also removed 5 old overgrown/vine encrusted weedy shrubs (and ground up the stumps).

I had requested an estimate from their company on Friday for their work. One of their arborists came by on Sunday morning to look it over. He provided a fair estimate right then and there, and said they would be able to do the work the next day if I liked (I had fence people coming Tuesday so I was relieved that the fence people wouldn't have the dead tree to contend with and the tree people wouldn't have the dead tree to contend with or have to drag branches through an additional gate). They were prompt, polite, and efficient and cleaned up the entire area beautifully. The trees all look great, and I will have them back to shape up my backyard trees next time. I was very happy with their service and would not hesitate to recommend them.

Description of Work:
Ground out 3 stumps and raked chips. Trimmed 40' magnolia tree for shape and to clear house. Also trimmed a 50' oak tree to remove deadwood and clear the house. Cut vines off of rain gutter (3 stories up), trimmed smaller maple tree and removed all brush and debris.

We are thrilled. All work was done as discussed. We normally get 3 estimates for any work, here we had 2. Cost was similar with another company until figuring Angie's list discount offered by Richard's. Finally, the work cost about $300 less than other estimates. Charles did the estimate and even called to say he was running about 10 minutes late. How many contractors do that?? Estimate was Thursday and work was done the following Tuesday. There were 10 guys; they moved a grill and lawn furniture to prevent damage. Hubby was happy because a botanist was part of the crew. The lawn was clean when they left and we highly recommend the company. In addition to being happy with the service, we believe we got a good value. We paid a fair price for work that requires special equipment, training and multiple people.

Description of Work:
They pruned a huge maple tree in the front yard, took out two smaller trees in the backyard and cut lower limbs off four other very large trees in the backyard.

Excellent job. Because of the time of year (February), they could schedule the job within days of the estimate. It was delayed a few days because of weather, but was still very timely. A very large crew arrived and went right to work, and the Arborist was there to supervise, thorough clean-up too. They discounted the job from $1,500 to $1,200 because of Angie's list mention. I estimated the job at well over $2,000, so it was a good deal.

The job consisted of removing a 15 + year old cypress tree, removing all wood, brush and debris, and grinding stump.

After reading reviews about Richard's Tree Service in Angie's List, there was no doubt that we'd be contacting them for a quote to have a tree removed that we have wanted to remove since we bought the townhouse over six years ago. Within 24 hours of our call, we had a written proposal in our hands. Within 6 days of our acceptance, they were here to do the work. I might also mention that a winter storm warning was in effect at the time they did the work. My husband and I appreciate their getting the job completed in a timely and professional manner.

Description of Work:
1) Trim red cedar over roof and driveway. 2) Trim 2 holly bushes by 1/4. 3) Remove silver maple tree (and stack 18 inch logs). 4) Removed dead cypress.

Everything was done as requested, however when I checked consumer checkbooks' list of tree removal costs, the average cost for a silver maple tree removal was approximately $1,200. Richard's Tree Service only charged $1,950.

Description of Work:
On 10/18/06, they came to remove a large Bradford pear tree and grind stump. When I contacted them the week before for an estimate, they sent somebody out within a couple of days. They were good about returning my calls.

The crew was prompt, courteous and careful not to damage fence and surrounding plantings. They hauled off all limbs and even picked up other fallen branches and twigs lying about the yard. I watched the whole process and was very pleased with their efficiency and professionalism. I would call them again.

They did a great job of removing the trees without damaging any of the surrounding plantings (I removed all desirable plants from the immediate vicinity of the trunk, but there were quite a few others within the drip line). They came when they said they would and handled everything via phone / fax, so I didn't have to take a day off.

It was removed on time, as promised. The men did an excellent job cleaning the yard. The only way I could tell they were there was that the limb was gone. No sawdust of branches in the yard.

They did removal of a dying spruce tree, grinding of stumps and covering of a hole with chips and dirt.

I consulted Angie's list for companies to trim my magnolia. I love this tree very much and did not want it to be damaged this winter. I contacted two tree service companies for an estimate, Tyson's Tree Service, Inc. and Richard's Tree Service. I chose Richard's Tree Service because they sent an arborist to look at my tree and tell me what I needed to do to keep it healthy. I am extremely please with the work done by Richard's Tree Service. The price was within my range and I was especially happy to have an arborist provide advice on how to keep it healthy.

They came to give us a quote, but it seems high. I need to get another quote or two from other tree companies.

They did a number of 8 projects total. Tree removal, trimming, stump grinding and miscellaneous was done.

They blew me away, absolutely the best! Showed up on time with 12 guys and 4 trucks! Work was done in 4 hours. Project 8 was left off of their work order. The lead climber looked at me funny when I asked him to go up and trim the last 2 trees (way up). I was puzzled, not sure about his reluctance to do this job. I did not have him do all the trimming of these trees that I wanted. I then checked my copy of his work order when he left and realized the problem. Job 8 was not on his work order. It was just an honest office mistake. The fact that he went up the 2 trees at all says it all! I called the office right away and they took full blame for the error. They said they would call Monday or Tuesday for a go back. They called Tuesday and showed up on time again and with full crew. They joked with me about the mistake and we all had a laugh. In 35 minutes, they had done everything I wanted! I can't say it any better than the best!

The work took place over 3 visits. They first took care of the urgent need of the branches resting on the roof. The work was completed later, (with my consent) at a time better fitting their schedule. The last piece of work was a separate job that I decided to do as a follow-up. At all times, the work was excellent and they were easy to work with and responsive.

I had to reschedule twice due of weather, but each time Richard's followed-up to make sure that the rescheduled time would work with my schedule. On the day they performed the work, they showed up on time, with a crew size appropriate for the size of the tree, and was very expeditious in its removal.

They offered outstanding service at a very competitive price. They have a certified arborist (George Berube) who gave both expert and practical advice. A dozen workers showed up on time, worked quickly and efficiently, and did a terrific job of cleaning up after they were finished, including raking the entire back lawn. They stuck to their original cost estimate even though the job was a little more extensive they they'd first thought. Best of all, they were very protective of our many flower beds. We were very impressed and will hire them again in the future. A+

The crew that came out to do the work was outstanding. George Berube, the co-owner of the company, worked right along with his men. The work was tricky since it involved cutting down branches close to buildings and other trees and it was accomplished with no damage. They were all very polite, conscientious and seemed to enjoy their work. The clean up left my yard looking better than before they came.

They trimmed several trees that were overhanging our house.

The company was very professional. From the call setting up the estimate to the people letting us know when the work was scheduled, and then rescheduled because of the severe storms we've had. The workers were great to work with and cleaned up all of the debris, tree litter and branches for us. We would certainly use this company again for all of our services. The 10% coupon is a real bonus.

Description of Work:
A tree branch that had broken during a storm was resting on our electrical wires. Richard's Tree Service removed the branch and pruned that tree and another one in our yard.

The company gave us an estimate the first work day after we called and did the work the day after that. They were very neat and very little litter was left afterward. The work was done as described on the estimate. There was widespread tree damage in our area from severe storms and we were worried we might not get service before the branch broke the wires. We appreciate the promptness of the company's response.

The crew extensively trimmed a large and a medium white oak and lightly trimmed several other trees in the yard. They also removed branches from three trees that were dangerously close to overhead utility lines.

Trees in front yard trimmed back from power lines. Mature tree in back yard was cut way back. The large, major branch hanging over the house was removed. Additional trees trimmed in back of the house where branches infringed on structures. One sprawling mulberry tree had all dead branches removed. Side branches from neighboring trees and bushes were trimmed from property lines.

The workers were prompt and efficient, well equipped for the job, and left a much improved and cleaner site. The job was professional from the estimate to the final removal of debris. The office representative was helpful and amiable. And the trees look great! We have a much improved curb appeal and a safer environment.

Removed a dead pine and grounded out the stump. A maple tree in the back-center of the yard was removed to fence level.

The estimate occurred quickly without me having to be home. The quoted price was good and the actual cost was the same as the estimate. The service was performed shortly after the estimate. I happened to be home during the service. They started early, including "mulching" the debris in the street, starting at around 7:30 am on a Tuesday which was quite loud for that early hour. The work itself was done efficiently. One of the large removed limbs momentarily caught on the power lines to my house during descent, although a ground worker used a hooked pole to prevent the full weight of the limb from weighing down the power lines. I was nervous watching that but there was no apparent impact. Negligible debris was left, good cleanup. My only complaint aside from the early / loud mulching was that the estimator quoted removing the large maple to approximately ground level, but the team had to stop at the level of an adjacent fence, leaving a 2 foot high stump. The estimator should have foreseen.

Everything was excellent except the price. They did give a discount for having a coupon. I originally wanted to hire them, but the price was way too much when compared to other companies. I did receive a follow up call to see if all of my questions had been answered okay, and I thought this was a good thing to do.

Description of Work:
Cut down a very large tree (about 75' tall) that was damaged and leaning towards our house. They cut the tree into fire place lengths. The tree was dropped away from house in a location that made it easy for me to move the cut pieces.

Representative, Rock, came within two days and provided a written quote and proof of insurance coverage. Rock was professional and polite. He inspected another tree I was concerned about, which had been struck by lightning and advised me against cutting it down (he told me how to treat it against further insect damage). The crew arrived as scheduled and the work was done as agreed upon within two weeks of my phone call.

The gentleman came out and gave me a quote of $700 to remove two live limbs (that were too close to the house) and some dead wood in my oak tree. I scheduled the work and the day he came out, he said that since the foliage had come out, he could see that there was a lot more dead wood and it would take twice as long. He said it would also cost another $700, doubling the original estimate. I understood this might be true and offered $500 more instead and he would not take the job for that amount. I think it was unprofessional to not stand by their estimate since he is an expert after all. He could have at least mentioned in the estimate that there might be more found later, after the foliage came out.

I received an estimate and since I was unclear about whether the estimate included a tree that I wanted to keep; I contacted the company prior to the service and told them that I would mark the trees with yellow ribbon since I couldn't be home when the service would occur. When I returned home, I unfortunately found out that the service had removed the unmarked tree. In addition to those marked, I immediately contacted the company who apologized and said that they had clearly made a mistake. They were very apologetic and had removed the cost of that tree removal from the final bill.
